The Eclectic World of Fashion - September 2008

It is tough having to say goodbye to a summer that never came. It is even tougher having to say welcome to a wet winter, but let me share a few ideas with you. Returning from an equally cold and wet holiday I received many compliments on my new MAC. It is the first time I have owned a raincoat I enjoy and wear with great enthusiasm. www.danefae.dk

As a stylist I spend hours looking, validating and buying clothes. Sometimes it would be useful to have a magic wand, however the secret behind looking gorgeous, is knowing what suits you, not dressing like everybody else.

Although looking good has become the equal of looking young, dressing like a teenager is not how it is achieved. The french label Comptoir des Cotonniers offers a collection of carefree off-duty elegance achieved only by hours of preparation. This look is exemplified by the chain's advertising, which features mothers and daughters recruited from the better-looking end of its clientele. The labels fast retailing has been helped by Carla Bruni, the honorary ambassador for appropriate-to-the-occasion French dressing. Comptoir des Cotonniers caters for those off-duty occasions when a Dior suit will not do.

Although the weather is getting colder, this season offers a lot of warmth, colour and texture. Hoss Intropia plunges us into the feminine, romantic, eclectic world its crafted clothing conveys. Its knitwear looks elegant and casual at the same time. It offers a signature aesthetic with a collection of contrasting prints and vibrant colours. Eminently feminine, oversized geometric print works with stylised florals and stripes bring warmth and elegance to the cold of winter.
